Transforming of Executive Coalitions in Prague in the Electoral Period 2010-2014

The aim of this diploma thesis Transforming of Executive Coalitions in Prague in the Electoral Period 2010 - 2014 is to analyze influences, which have an important role in a process of establishing executive coalitions and also in their stability. The analysis is based on a classical theory of coalitions, discursive analysis, interviews with direct participants and on official documents. One of the aims is to describe the level of possibility in application of theoretical concepts of coalition theory in the area of Prague's political system. There are many points of view, from which we look at stability and forming of coalitions. For example, very important point of view is an influence of making and implementing politics or an influence of politicians from national level. A big importance is focused on negotiating between participants, their statements in media and their real steps and decisions. The intention of this thesis is not an invention of general model which should be applied on similar local system, but to explain and describe the uniqueness of Prague local system and the election period of 2010 - 2014.
Coalition links within the anti Islamist organizations in the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis analyzes the coalition ties that have been established within the anti- Islamic scene in the Czech Republic. The analysis includes the most important counter- Islamic entities in the Czech Republic, namely the National Democracy, the Workers' Party of Social Justice, Dusk and its followers, and the Bloc against Islam and its followers. The theoretical basis of the thesis is the theory of coalitions. The aim of the thesis is to answer the questions why the anti-Islamic subjects of the coalition or other forms of co-operation follow up and why they do not follow them, even if they are offered because of their situation. Another aim of the thesis is to point out the possibility of using part of the theoretical approaches of the theory of coalition with certain modifications to the specific environment of the anti-Islamic scene in the Czech Republic, which is quite different from the national environment, for which the concepts of coalition theory were predominantly created. Coalition policy of small parties in the Czech Republic after the elections 2017

This thesis deals with the position of small parties in the Czech parliamentary system after the elections to the Chamber of Deputies in autumn 201. The main focus is holding on the period from the official start of the election campaign on 2 May 2017 until the press release of selected parties after signing Coaliton on 10 July 2018. At the same time this paper focuses on the strategies of small political entities in the negotiations on the government in a situation where the election winner became the ANO movement and the only candidate for the prime minister is the prosecuted Andrej Babiš. Attention is paid to the strategy of the small political subjects, when they are faced with deciding whether to give priority to offices in the government and the opportunity to push through their political agenda or decide to keep the voters' promise and remain in opposition. The issue is examined from the perspective of the smallest political entities in the Chamber of Deputies - KDU-ČSL, TOP 09 and STAN. Coalition Relations in the chosen Town (Vlašim)

This diploma thesis provides a complete information about local politics in the town of Vlašim. Theoretical basis is primary focused on the theory of coalitions and its typology. Then characterizes socio - economic indicators of the municipality, which have the main effects on the local political system. Further, it describes election periods from the year of 2002 to 2010. This part is important to know all contexts that have influenced today's composition of coalition and in fact the whole situation in the city council. The last chapter applies the theory of coalition at the local level. For the correct interpretation and understanding of the formation of coalitions in Vlašim it is fundamental to detect the local specificities such as motivation of creating partnership between the parties, relationships between councilors etc. Now it is possible to understand the local political scene and subsequently the principles of local coalitions.
Analysis of Coalition Behaviour of Political Parties at the Regional Level

Need to form a coalition accompanies most of legislative bodies in multi-party systems without directly-elected executive, including party system in the Czech Republic. This thesis analyses coalition building processes and coalitions formed after regional elections in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012. Main goal is to identify what factors, trends and party behaviour patterns affects coalitions bargaining and final form of a coalition. Secondary goal is to evaluate the stability and continuity of these factors and trends. In order to achieve these goals, diachronic and synchronous comparative analyses was used together with quantitative method of voting power measurement. Text is divided into four chapters. First chapter is devoted to discussion about American and European approach to the study of theory of coalitions. Two points of view of motivation of political parties to compete in the elections are presented: Office and Policy seeking. Second part of this chapter is focused on multi-level governance with emphasis on specifics of the coalition formation process and relationships between parliamentary and regional systems. Second chapter presents method of voting power indices. In the third chapter regional political system of Czech Republic, its organs, powers and voting system are described. Final chapter contains the analysis of coalitions and coalition bargaining. Chapter is divided into two parts; one focused on coalition formation in particular regions and second analyzes continuous and long-term factors and trends.
Visegrad Cooperation in the EU: Eastern Partnership as an Area of Common Interest

This thesis deals with the Visegrad Group (V4) as on of the cooperating coalitions in the European Union (EU). Then, a deeper analysis of one common topic of V4 in EU is provided - analysis of V4 activities in the framework of Eastern Partnership. Therefore the aim of the thesis is to analyse concrete actions of V4 within the policy of Eastern Partnership and choose those that contribute the most to the development of Eastern Partnership.
Regional elections 2012 on example of South Bohemia region

The topic of this thesis is the regional elections 2012 on example of South Bohemia region. In the theoretical part were described the regional administrative bodies and principles of regional elections. The practical part dealt with the analyses of the elections results and application of features of the second-order elections, which were described by Karlheinz Reif and Hermann Schmitt in the 70s years of the last century. In the theses was verified, that the government parties in the second order elections lose. These parties reached a minimum at mid-term of the legislative period and in this period lost a lot of their popularity. The most important aspect of second-order elections is that there is less at stake. This is the reason why the level of participation was lower in this type of elections. The last part of thesis deals with Theory of political coalitions. In the regional elections 2012 was established the minimal winning coalition, which included two left-wing political parties.
The colaition formation in Slovakia in terms of thories of coalition

The main topic of thesis is an analysis of the coalition cabinets formed in Slovakia from 1998 to 2012, when the first time election results brought an absolute majority in parliament to the party Smer. Using a comparison of particular governments, the work will seek to answer two basic questions. What format of the coalition in Slovakia during this period is the most common and what strategies are elected by Slovak parties in coalition negotiations? In search of the answers to these questions, the work will reflect existing theories of modern political sciences.For better understanding of the context in which coalition in Slovakia were formed, part of the work will be dedicated to the development of party system since 1989, and the institutional environment in which these developed.
